Londres. Un autobús de dos pisos que transportaba a estudiantes de secundaria cayó en unrío en Inglaterra, enviando al conductor y a dos pasajeros al hospital y dejando a más de una docena de personas con heridas leves, informaron autoridades.
El autobús que transportaba a estudiantes del Barton Peveril Sixth Form College, una escuela para jóvenes de 16 a 18 años, se salió de una carretera en Eastleigh, cerca de la costa sur. La causa del accidente estaba bajo investigación.
“Los informes sugieren que el autobús salió de la carretera y se detuvo en un río poco profundo”, afirmó Richard Tyldsley, gerente general de Bluestar Bus.
“Nuestro conductor y al menos dos de los pasajeros han confirmado lesiones, y estamos esperando más actualizaciones sobre el estado de los demás a bordo”.
Los 19 pasajeros a bordo estaban fuera del autobús y alrededor de 14 fueron atendidos en el lugar por paramédicos, dijo un portavoz del Servicio de Ambulancias del Centro Sur.
Dos helicópteros, cinco ambulancias y equipos de bomberos respondieron al suceso.
La compañía de autobuses no conocía de inmediato las circunstancias, pero estaba investigando y cooperando con la policía que investigaba el incidente.
