Se trata de un hombre de 39 años de apellido Michel y de una mujer de apellido Landeros, de 52 años.
Las autoridades de Costa Rica extraditaron este miércoles hacia Estados Unidos a una mujer y un hombre, ambos de nacionalidad mexicana, quienes eran requeridos en ese país por cargos de lavado de dinero y narcotráfico.
El Organismo de Investigación Judicial de Costa Rica (OIJ) y la oficina local de la Interpol llevaron a cabo el trámite de extradición en conjunto con agentes de la Administración de Control de Drogas de Estados Unidos (DEA por si siglas en inglés).
Se trata de un hombre de 39 años de apellido Michel y de una mujer de apellido Landeros, de 52 años, ambos de nacionalidad mexicana, y quienes fueron detenidos en Costa Rica el año pasado, por separado, debido a que sobre ellos pesaban órdenes de captura internacional.
El hombre fue detenido el 13 de junio de 2024 y la mujer el 12 de julio de ese mismo año, ambos al llegar al Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría, la principal terminal aérea de Costa Rica.
«Según los reportes de la DEA, en apariencia (Landeros) está vinculada a una organización de tráfico de drogas y lavado de dinero, que operaba en Estados Unidos entre el año 2021 y el año 2024. De acuerdo con la investigación, al parecer esta mujer movilizaba grandes cantidades de dinero en apariencia producto del tráfico de drogas», indica el informe del OIJ.
Por su lado, Michel es requerido por las autoridades estadounidenses por los delitos de tráfico internacional de estupefacientes y legitimación de capitales.
«Este hombre sería sospechoso de realizar múltiples transferencias electrónicas equivalentes a varios millones de dólares en criptomonedas, de Estados Unidos hacia organizaciones criminales asentadas en México y presuntamente este dinero provenía de la venta de narcóticos en suelo estadounidense», explicó el OIJ.
