El consultor jurídico de la SRE mencionó el compromiso de Sheinbaum para detener este el caudal del tráfico ilegal de armas.
La tarde de este martes 4 de marzo, México concluyó en Washington la presentación de argumentos orales ante la Corte Suprema de Estados Unidos, por lasdemandas contra armadoras y distribuidoras estadounidenses, por lo que la secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE) dijo que fue un “día histórico”.
Estos argumentos orales, en conjunto con los escritos, sustentarán la resolución que emita la Corte en verano.
Pablo Arrocha, consultor jurídico de la SRE, expuso tras la audiencia que a nuestro país preocupa el tráfico ilícito de armas que calificó como “un río de hierro”, donde su posesión sí es ilegal “como consecuencia de la negligencia de los fabricantes de armas, que son muy conscientes de su desvío”.
Arrocha acusó el tráfico ilícito de armas de Estados Unidos a México que se utilizan para herir y matar a decenas de miles de mexicanos cada año, y cómo las organizaciones delictivas adquieren armamento de alto poder con el que incluso han derribado helicópteros del Ejército mexicano.
“¿Y por qué ocurre esto? Ocurre gracias al flujo de armas que se trafican ilegalmente, todos los días, desde Estados Unidos. Se trata de un río de hierro que bombea hasta medio millón de armas, o más, cada año a México.
“Los fabricantes de armas estadounidenses, así como los distribuidores y los vendedores, alimentan este río, con pleno conocimiento de causa”, declaró.
Destacan compromiso de Sheinbaum.
Al destacar el compromiso de la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo para detener este “caudal del tráfico ilegal de armas de este río de hierro”, Pablo Arrocha mencionó que para frenar a los cárteles es imperante cortar el suministro de sus armas de fuego.
“El Gobierno de México respeta plenamente las políticas de Estados Unidos. Y quiero ser muy claro, esta demanda de México no tiene nada que ver con la segunda enmienda constitucional, ni con los derechos de los estadounidenses, que son respetuosos de la ley, para adquirir y poseer armas de fuego. Este caso no se trata de eso”, mencionó.
Llamó a esperar la decisión de la Suprema Corte de Justicia de Estados Unidos y a seguir haciendo todo lo posible para proteger a México de la violencia y del “sufrimiento” causado por el tráfico de armas hacia nuestro país.
