El gobierno de México anunció que la empresa Home Depot, realizará una inversión de más de 1,300 millones de dólares en México entre 2025 y 2028, con el objetivo de fortalecer su presencia en el país y aumentar su contenido de proveeduría nacional.
“Hoy vamos a estar anunciando una inversión bastante especial para nosotros. Home Depot genera más de 18,000 empleos y con esta nueva inversión se van a generar 2,000 empleos directos y más de 10,000 empleos indirectos», expresó Ximena Escobedo Juárez, titular de la Unidad de Desarrollo Productivo y Jefa de Oficina del Secretario de la Secretaría de Economía.
Además, resaltó que esta inversión se alinea con los objetivos del Plan México, impulsado por el gobierno federal para fortalecer el desarrollo industrial del país.
La funcionaria precisó que, actualmente, el 85% de los productos vendidos en Home Depot México provienen de proveedores nacionales, y con esta inyección de capital, la empresa buscará alcanzar el 100% de contenido nacional para 2028.
Por su parte, José Antonio Rodríguez Garza, presidente y director general de Home Depot México, destacó que esta inversión permitirá la apertura de cinco tiendas por año, con la meta de alcanzar 165 establecimientos en el territorio nacional.
También, que la compañía busca seguir consolidándose como «la autoridad del producto» en el sector, ofreciendo un catálogo de casi 50,000 artículos y privilegiando la proveeduría nacional.
«El 85% de nuestros productos provienen de proveedores mexicanos. Con esta nueva inversión, buscamos que para 2028 el 100% de nuestra provisión sea nacional», indicó el directivo. Además, resaltó que la empresa no solo fortalecerá su presencia física, sino también su estrategia digital. «Actualmente, nuestro sitio web recibe 250 millones de visitas anuales y es el sexto sitio de retail con más tráfico en México», señaló.
En cuanto a sostenibilidad, Home Depot informó que casi la mitad de sus tiendas ya operan con energía renovable y que seguirá expandiendo su catálogo de productos ecológicos, contribuyendo a la reducción de la huella de carbono. Asimismo, la empresa reafirmó su compromiso social mediante su programa de voluntariado, el cual ha realizado más de 8,000 jornadas en México.
