Monterrey.- El Gobierno del Estado de Nuevo León eliminó la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública Estatal para que la Nueva Fuerza Civil asuma el mando directo de todas las áreas, informó el gobernador Samuel García.El anuncio se dio después de que el mandatario estatal designara a Gerardo Escamilla Vargas como Secretario de Seguridad en sustitución de Gerardo Palacios Pámanes.
Con el nombramiento, la Institución Fuerza Civil asume el mando del Centro de Coordinación Integral, de Control, Comando, Comunicaciones y Cómputo (C5), la Unidad de Medidas Cautelares y Suspensión Condicional del Proceso (UMECA) y la Escuela Superior de Inteligencia.
También pasaría a la Nueva Fuerza Civil la operación de la Agencia de Administración Penitenciaria.“Estamos cumpliendo un sueño de Nuevo León y un paso importante en Seguridad Pública. La Nueva Fuerza Civil se va a comer a la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública, es decir, ya no va a existir la Secretaría, ahora toda la Secretaría se denomina Nueva Fuerza Civil.Esta reforma tiene como objeto que Fuerza Civil tenga el mando de muchas tareas que antes estaban dispersas, malamente”, explicó Samuel García a través de un video.
Gerardo Escamilla Vargas, quien se desempeñaba como Comisario General de Fuerza Civil desde julio de 2022, cuenta con dos Licenciaturas en Criminología y Ciencias Jurídicas, respectivamente.Fue secretario de Seguridad Pública de San Pedro Garza García de marzo de 2019 a junio de 2022, director de la Academia de la Policía de Monterrey de 2017 a 2018 y director de profesionalización y Disciplina de la Universidad de Ciencias de la Seguridad de 2012 a 2017, entre otros.Samuel García explicó que la designación obedece al fortalecimiento y posicionamiento de la institución de Fuerza Civil para cumplir con los objetivos estratégicos en materia de seguridad, alineado a lo establecido en el artículo 22 de la Nueva Constitución Política del Estado de Nuevo León.“Antes estas tareas estaban dispersas, hoy lo que pretendemos es que Nuevo León tenga una fuerza ejemplo y modelo nacional, y que haya una sola cabeza que será Gerardo, a quien le doy mi confianza para arreglar la seguridad pública del estado”, dijo el gobernador.García agregó que la Nueva Fuerza Civil operará en un edificio nuevo ubicado sobre la Avenida Morones Prieto, en Monterrey.
